Re: The Byrds and early Arthur Lee's Love ; guitar sound

It's a 12 string Rickenbacker (for The Byrds anyway). If you haven't got one (I haven't!) you can get a fair old take on it by using any 12 string through Blue Cat's 'Re-Guitar' using the 'Ricky Bucker' pickup setting and a bit of the 'Hollow Body' effect, through a Vox AC30 or Fender Twin type, or other 'vintage' amp.

Roger McGuinn also often recorded direct into the desk and used shitloads of compression (even had a guitar with a compressor built in.... :love: ).

It should theoretically give you something a bit like this (using the 'pushed oldie' amp in the free Tonex and the Mixbox LA-2A compressor);
